Burton Twin Peaks Grill 2012 Review by The Good Ride

The Burton Twin Peaks Grill Jacket is an affordable insulated Gore-Tex Jacket for those that don’t like too much layering and want their jacket to take care of some of the warmth.

Turn On’s: Size L Jackets that fit well around my chest, size M pants that fit well around my thighs so I can get in and out of my pockets, open roads, Surfy Powder Turns, Riding with Friends, new gear and especially my super-hot super smart super funny wife.
Turn Off’s: Size L Jackets that don’t fit well around my chest, super tight Size M Pants that I can’t get up over my thighs, traffic and people who can’t park inside the lines.

The Grill isn’t insulated like a puffy but it has insulation throughout the entire jacket. Everyone has a different warmth need.  Some ride puffy’s even on a sunny day and some ride shells on super cold pow days with only a layer or 2 beneath. So for some, this can be a 1 layer underneath for most days and for others, you might need a layer or 2.  The construction is good and there are plenty of pockets for just about anything you need.  The Twin Peaks doesn’t have the ultra waterproof zippers that the AK line has but they do conceal most of the pockets with waterproof material.  The blow hole collar is this relatively new Burton tech that is supposed to help channel air out through the collar without letting cold air in so you don’t send fog up towards the goggles.  It’s an interesting idea but we can’t say for sure if it’s doing anything.  Aside from this little issue, the Grill Jacket is one of the best choices you can make for a low cost insulated 2 Layer Gore-Tex Jacket.
