K2 Lien AT 2017 - 2015 Review by The Good Ride
The K2 Lien AT has got a lot of the personality of the Company plus a whole lot of new personality and tech on its own. It’s an all-around better binding and I had a pretty short but good time on it.
Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews. No one is perfect and we do make money from the “Where To Buy” links below, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.
Days: 2
Riders: James
Boots: Burton Hail
Boards: Jones Mountain Twin
Flex: Very medium-ish flex. K2 is never too stiff with even their most responsive bindings and they still feel medium to bordering on medium/stiff.
Adjustability: K2 has really stepped up the adjustability game. It’s so quick and easy to dial out a binding to your boot and riding style. It’s all toolless except for the discs.
Comfort: Very comfortable. I’m a big fan of canted bindings because they seem to relieve pressure in my hips. They also seem to relieve pressure on the knees and ankles with some of my friends. One friend with a really jacked up knee doesn’t like any canted binding because it tweaks his knee out of place but from what I’ve seen he’s in the minority.
Turn Initiation: It’s a pretty smooth edge to edge and it will turn most boards without much of a problem.
Buttering: This is a very easy binding to Butter and it’s right up there with the best of them. The Mountain Twin I was on flexed just like it did with bindings like the Burton Genesis. I didn’t take off the bottom layer to expose the three tripods either. The flex felt natural and easy underfoot when flexing the board from tip to tail. Along with the mini disc and the Tri-Pods, there are not many places where there is a dead spot on the board.
Boot Support: The K2 Lien AT wraps around your boot and holds it in place really well.
Ratchet System: Very easy on and off.
Shock Absorption: These new bindings felt very cushy and although I didn’t have a flat landing it felt like it could handle one well.
All in all it’s a binding that I’d like to get to know better and spend a few days on it.

Surprised
Come on guys seriously???
You review a binding but can\'t even mount it yourselves? I seriously hope that is just lazy and not an indication of your ability. This review is of a binding that\'s total design is based around small contact pads and you tested it without them and then criticised it because it sucks without them, hahaha guess what, a ride binding sucks for cushioning when you use it without the foam slide in base. I expected better from you guys.
I have the 2017 model and they kick ass. Kissing hands and shaking babies all day long.
The ratchets have changed from the demo model too.
If you adjust the toe strap properly it is pretty killer, but it takes longer than it should to get right and i do agree that it doesn\'t fit well if you are at the smaller end of the size range for each binding size, so be aware of that. Awesome ideas in this binding though, just a shame other sites have put more effort into their review of it.
Response: At the demos the reps for every brand mount the bindings for you so they can set them up correctly. No rider at the demo\'s set\'s up their own gear so that\'s all on the K2 rep. We did like it last year so that might be why. Glad they work well for you.
