The Burton Mission Restricted offers the same binding as the Burton Mission except for the ankle strap and some different paint.  It has the larger asymmetrical ankle strap from the Malavitas. The high back, base plate, etc are all the same as the regular Burton Mission. The only different thing you are getting is an ankle strap that allows more freedom of movement on the inside and more support on the outside of your boot.  It makes it a little more of a freestyle-friendly ride.  This makes the tip to tail response a little better for butters, presses and such. It also gives you a little more tweak ability.  The high back is stiffer than the Cartel so it’s kind of interesting to see it with a freestyle strap. Some like this and some might not.  Another thing you can do with all Restricted ankle straps is to switch them to get a little more all mountain response. It’s still not as good as the larger slightly asymmetrical ankle strap the Cartel has but it’s better than the small rather old ankle strap on the regular Mission.

If you can spend a little more money you will be much better if you go with the Burton Cartel or Burton Cartel Restricted because they offer a better high back, auto cant cushioning and better ratchets. The standard Cartel has a larger more all mountain and more supportive ankle strap that some will prefer over the restricted and others will like the Restricted strap. Either way, the cartel models are better but if you can’t spend the extra money the Burton Mission Restricted is the better of the Mission Re:Flex options.

Nothing changed between the 2014 Burton Mission Restricted and the 2013 model.
