Forum Youngblood DoubleDog 2013 - 2012 Review by The Good Ride
The Forum Youngblood Doubledog is a soft, spinny and playful forum board. Forum does hybrid rocker well. It’s no high speed all mountain freestyle assault board but we all had a blast enjoying all that the park had to offer and playing around the mountain.
Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews. We do make money from the “Where To Buy” links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

Even though Forum is owned by Burton they didn’t seem to follow Burton’s Flying V hybrid rocker design. It seems to feel/be more like the hybrid rocker boards from Never Summer, Mervin, and Rome.
On Snow Feel: It’s rather stable in softer snow but in the harder patches of snow we found it to loose but not as loose as the Flying V Rocker shape of their parent company. It’s not a speedy groomer board but all we wanted to do was play around and turn the mountain on the way to the park. It was fun to make a few turns, butter, Ollie, spin, etc. around the mountain.
Powder: The Youngblood is small and not really a powder board. Still, it floats well for its size but it’s no pow board.
Turn Initiation and Carving: This hybrid rocker shape along with the soft torsional flex makes for a very easy board to turn. The hybrid rocker bend combined with the small size of the board makes it super easy to transition from edge to edge. You can make short radius turns with no effort. It’s got enough camber in the tip and tail to make it decent on a hard turn and isn’t bad on a carve if it’s at slower speeds and in softer snow.
Speed: The Youngblood Double Dog is chattery and will be exposed on most medium to long groomers.
Uneven Snow– Just like Burton boards here. It’s going to be one of those boards that can handle bumpy end of the day terrain anywhere if you want to go there.
Edge Hold: Most Burton and Forum boards have a small extension at each binding mount of about 1/2mm that gives a little extra edge hold. Forum has a different hybrid rocker profile with one less bend and we think that is why Forum has better edge hold than Burton boards. The edge hold is acceptable but we’d love to see a little more for an all conditions ride.
Approximate Weight- Pretty light but let’s face it we don’t put boards on scales so we can’t say for sure. It was easy on the knees riding up the chair and it’s small.
Switch: Super easy switch.
Jibbing– Great in the jib park. We had a blast on just about any jib in our ability level. If you are a serious technical jibber there might be better boards but we loved the soft and forgiving nature of this ride in the jib park
Pipe: Not enough edge hold to rock the pipe full time but it will do well on a soft sunny day. The more time you spend in the jib park with this board the worse it will be in the pipe but most of you know that.
Jumps: Our favorite part of the Youngblood was its ability to Ollie and spring off kickers. It’s way too much fun. We were really pleased with the jump ability of the Youngblood. Good times here.
All in all the forum Youngblood is a board we had a blast on. If they added more edge hold this could be a practically perfect all conditions park board.
