Summary
The Capita Space Metal Fantasy has been around for a while and it's a flat between the feet to a rocker in the tip/tail with Capita's wah-pow! nose and tail. It comes with a 4/10 flex. The Space Metal has a playful freestyle personality, and could be suitible as an entry level park/jib board or a playful board for a more advanced rider as well. New for the 2024 model is a 145 W, 149W, and 153W. Such a neat addition to the Space Metal sizing options. There still aren't many women's specific wide models out there, so this is great news.Where To Buy

Capita Space Metal Fantasy Written Review Review by The Good Ride

Size: 143
Days: 4+
Conditions: Mostly spring conditions with a little powder mixed in here and there.
Riders: Steph
Boots: Vans Ferra Pro
Bindings: Union Ultra
Sizes Availible: 139, 141, 143, 145, 147, 149, 151, 153
I LOVE all the sizes this board comes in. There is literally a size for everyone. Not many boards come in this small of size increments.
Approximate Weight: Medium bordering on light.
On Snow Feel
Nice stable feel between the feet for one footing and flat basing. Typical flat to rocker feel to it that many like. Not as squirlly as a full reverse camber board. The flat section between the feet helps stablize the ride while the rocker on the nose and tail keep it feeling catch free.
Edge Hold
Missing the edge hold that most of us really appreciate in harder conditions but it’s not really a board with a lot of grip in icy conditions. It does best in average to good snow conditions.
Flex
This board comes with a 4/10 flex on the Capita scale. It is pretty soft and easy to manipulate. It has changed over the years with all the new tech from the core, resin, fiberglass, sidewalls and top sheet. So even though the Capita Space Metal Fantasy has the same shape and specs as past models it’s got a completely new personality underfoot when compared to the older boards. It’s softer but just as damp and more dynamic/playful than the earlier models.
Turn Initiation
The Space Metal Fantasy is quick to turn. It’s sizing runs on the smaller side so you might expect it to turn faster but it feels pretty stable and not that twitchy for it’s size. It’s not a dynamic turner like the Paradise Falls but it’s pretty good for a flat to rocker board.
Turning Experience
Pretty boring for those that really enjoy a good turn but that’s not why you get a board like this. You get this to butter and jib. It is easy to turn and takes minimal effort. The Space Metal prefers smaller, skidded turns rather than larger carve turns.
Skidded Turns
Very easy to skid/slide all over the mountain in a variety of terrain and snow conditions.
Carving
Not a good carver and if that’s what you are more into then it’s more about the Paradise Falls.
Powder
The Space Metal Fantasy does pretty well in powder for being a true twin. The flat to rocker camber profile help it to float in average powder conditions. But for deeper days, might be best to have a more powder specific ride in the quiver.
Off Piste
This board manuvers well through bumpy snow and in off piste conditions. However, there isn’t a lot of edge grip. So as long as the conditions are decent, it is fun to ride off piste and through trees. It is quick to turn in tight trees, and is fun to go find some natrual features and tree jibs with.
Speed
For being a jib specific board, it handles speed pretty well. It is not a super damp ride, but doesn’t feel unstable when riding fast. The Space Metal comes with a sintruded base, which helps to give it more glide than a board with a standard extruded base as well.
Switch
Almost as good as it gets switch. Only an Asymmetrical Twin would be better.
Jibbing
If you buy the Space Metal Fantasy this would be the reason. It’s the best jib board Capita makes and one of the better women’s jib boards out there on the market. It’s the kind of board that makes you better at any level. This board rolls onto rails easily, and takes minimal effort to throw around. The Wah-Pow! sections on the nose and tail give it a little extra pop in ollies and off jumps. And the catch free feel on snow allows for weird landings and mistakes with minimal consequences.
Pipe
Not ideal for the pipe. The Paradise Falls will be a better option there. But is fun in a slushy, spring pipe situation.
Jumps
The Capita Space Metal Fantasy has decent pop for a flat and rocker board. It would be good for those just learning to hit jumps or just starting to spin. You can land a little off balance and still get away with it because the board is so forgiving. Fun for playing on small to medium jumps. However if air is your #1 priority then the Capita Birds of a Feather is a better choice.
Overall
The Capita Space Metal Fantasy could be suitible for a lot of different ability levels. It is a great jib board. And one of the only women’s specific jib boards out there. It comes in huge range of sizes. And would be great for a beginner park rider, or a more advanced rider that wants to lap the jib park all day. This could also be a good option for a beginner rider just starting out. It is forgiving and easy to turn, light under foot, and has a fun carefree personality. So whether you are looking for a catch free ride, or a rail slaying jib board, the Space Metal Fantasy might be one to check out.

Capita Space Metal Fantasy Past Reviews
2019
The Capita Space Metal Fantasy has been around for a while and it’s a flat between the feet to a rocker in the tip/tail. It offers up a pretty buttery jib friendly ride at a pretty reasonable price. It’s very similar to the Men’s Capita Horrorscope that all the guys loved. Steph liked it as well even though this wasn’t the ideal size for her.
The 2019 Space Metal Fantasy has a slightly different extruded base than the 2018 but other than that the board rides almost exactly the same.

Size: 153

Boots: Salomon Kiana
Bindings: Union Milan and Union Trilogy

On Snow Feel: Nice stable feel between the feet for one footing and flat basing. Typical flat to rocker feel to it that many like.
Edge Hold: Missing the edge hold that most of us really appreciate in harder conditions but it’s not really a board to grip. It’s more of a board to slide so not a real big deal.
Flex: Pretty soft and easy. For the last few years it’s got even better with all the new tech from the core, resin, fiberglass, sidewalls and top sheet. So even though the Capita Space Metal Fantasy has the same shape and specs as past models it’s got a completely new personality underfoot. Skidded Turns: Very easy to skid/slide all over the mountain.
Carving: Not a good carver and if that’s what you are more into then it’s more about the Paradise falls.
Powder: Because this is a small jib board it’s not ideal in powder but it floats well for it’s size.
Speed: Not a mountain board really. You can do it and it’s ok but it’s much more at home in the park.
Uneven Terrain: Capita boards are light and snappy but can often have an unforgiving feel underfoot in hard uneven snow. Luckily this is softer and flexier so it’s better than some as long as you take it slow and turn through the bumps.
Switch: Almost as good as it gets switch. Only an Asymmetrical Twin would be better.
Jibbing: If you buy the Space Metal Fantasy this would be the reason. It’s the best jib board Capita makes and one of the better women’s jib boards out there on the market. It’s the kind of board that makes you better at any level.
Pipe: Not ideal for the pipe. The Paradise Falls will be a better option there.
Jumps: The Capita Space metal fantasy has decent pop for flat and rocker in the profile but the Paradise Falls pops better on an ollie and is better hitting kickers of all sizes where this is better suited for small to medium jumps. However if air is your #1 priority then it’s pretty much the Birds of a Feather as that is it’s strongest quality.
So all in all Jibbing is all you think about then the Space Metal Fantasy would be a good call. Especially for the price.
2010
The Space Metal Fantasy’s riding style is jib specific board that isn’t bad elsewhere. Capita’s camber profile is a little flat section between the feet and then points up at around the bindings. It doesn’t rocker but just points from the new angle which is kind of unique. That is why they call it flat kick. This tech is pretty stable between the feet, easy to one foot and easy to flat base but it can be bit loose at times. It’s similar to a mostly rocker hybrid camber snowboard. The Space Metal Fantasy has an extruded base that is sturdy and requires less maintenance but it’s slower than a sintered base. If you can get over the extruded base (many can) then you will be pretty happy with the Space Metal Fantasy for mostly jibbing and some ocasional additional park play.
For 2012 the effective edge was shortened up which means a little less contact with the snow. The 2013 and 2014 is pretty similar.

lots of skidding
Not ideal if you are on a mountain with a lot of ice and moguls or a teacher but a great ride overall. you skid quite a bit and the carving is not spectacular but quick turns and spring snow it is great!
