On Snow Feel: The Never Summer Womens Proto Type Two has improved stability between the feet thanks to the extra camber with this ripsaw profile.  It’s still not quite perfect but it’s pretty close to the stability you get from hybrid camber boards and the same catch free nature.  It only gets a little loose between the feet in harder conditions when one footing and flat basing. Steph has never been into hybrid rocker boards but this is one of the first ones she liked.

Edge Hold: Really strong edge hold that works up to hard snow.  It’s not an ice specialist and you have to be a little tentative committing your edge on harder snow. But you can keep your edge if you dial back your turns.

Flex: Very medium flex throughout the board that is not super easy to butter but not hard either.  Most will like this flex and the tip/tail have a nice snappy return.

Turn Initiation: Very quick and easy edge to edge.  You can make all kinds of turns with this and have a pretty good time.  The asymmetrical side cuts on the board make turning feel easier.  However, there is one important thing to know with Asymmetrical boards like the Never Summer Women’s Proto Type Two is the board works best with a centered duck stance.

Skidded Turns: Even with the extra camber, we didn’t feel any extra issues with skidding turns compared to Rocker and Camber boards so it’s pretty easy.

Carving: Here is where the extra camber really shines and it carves better than almost any hybrid rocker board we tried.  It’s more for riding fakie as much as regular.

Powder: Even though the Women’s Proto Type Two didn’t get any powder we got some time in powder with the Men’s version.  For a Twin, this has good float but it can’t really compete with boards that have a set back like the Never Summer Aura when it comes to directional float.  So if you plan to ride

Speed: Its base has a good glide to it, the board is damper than you would think for its flex and the tip/tail don’t bounce around too much.  It’s a little loose between the feet in harder conditions but it’s gotten better.

Uneven Terrain: What makes it so damp also makes it so shock absorbent and tolerable in the uneven snow.  It does a very good job.

Switch: If your stance is centered and ducked out then this is about as good as you can get riding switch.  This asymmetrical twin works perfectly for how you stand on a board so it makes switch riding easier.

Jibbing: Not a bad jibber but if you want better then it’s probably best to go with the Onyx or wait until NS makes a women’s version of the Funslinger which I hope they do.

Pipe: Great pipe board and one of the better choices for those really looking to push it in the pipe.

Jumps: Even though it has a rubbery type of damp feel there is still ample pop.  It really springs in an ollie and we all liked how it pops off the tip/tail.  Also hitting kickers is very good. This board likes to hit kickers of all sizes without much compromise.

So all in all this is one of the better all mountain freestyle boards out there.  It even got Steph to start liking hybrid rocker profiles which I thought would be impossible to do.
