Summary

The Alloy B-Bomb is a pretty solid all-rounder for those that like a twin for everything from groomers to park to powder.  It's got a good balance of being forgiving but still poppy and fun to ride.

Alloy B-Bomb Written Review Review by The Good Ride

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  We do make money from the “Where To Buy” links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

How This Review Happened:  We borrowed this for an extended demo and then returned it.
Size: 155
Days: 1
Conditions: Soft snow with a little bit of powder on top.
Riders: James (Size 9, 5’10” 185-190lbs), Nick (Size 10, 160lbs, 5’8”)
Boots: Adidas Tactical ADV
Bindings: Union Strata

Similar Boards (but not the same): Lib Tech TRS HPNever Summer Proto Type Two, Nitro FuryYes GreatsLib Tech Hot Knife, Stone Message, Prior Wildcard, Marhar Darkside,
Rossignol Jibsaw, Lib Tech Box Knife,

Set-Up: 21.5” Wide. 15 front -15 back.  Centered.

Approximate Weight: Feels normal.

Sizing: The 155 felt just right for how I like to ride a twin like this. My 185lbs made the board feel a bit softer but I liked that.

Shape/Camber/On Snow Feel/Ability Level: Nice stable feel underfoot with the hybrid camber shape. Rocker in the tip/tail with camber underfoot really makes it a forgiving and stable ride. Pretty easy to skid turns and it has a very consistent feel underfoot in all conditions.

Flex/Pop/Buttering: The flat transition into rocker seems to help give it some pretty good pop but it didn’t have any issues with buttering for my weight. It was pretty easy and didn’t take too much work to do so.

Speed/Uneven Terrain: The base has good glide and the Alloy B-Bomb felt pretty damp. The tip/tail didn’t chatter too much when picking up speed in uneven terrain.

Edge Hold: The slight disruption in the sidecut really helps the Alloy B-Bomb grip in harder snow and it’s great for those that see harder days. It’s not like full magnetraction but doesn’t grab as much in softer snow which we really like.

Turn Initiation: Fast and a great board for quick turns through bumps or in tight spots.

Turning Experience/Carving: Not amazing but great for what it is and it didn’t make turns feel boring.

Powder: There is a decent float for a true twin but there is little to no setback on board. So if you want directional float, look to the Outkome and not this.

Switch: Very doable either way.

Getting Air/Park: This is the kind of board I would like to ride in the pipe. It drives well wall to wall, grips well and also is easy to turn quickly if you get off your game. It isn’t the perfect jump board but it tracks well into the little hits we had and it has enough board to go bigger than medium.

Alloy B-Bomb Past Reviews

The 2019 Alloy B-Bomb dropped the full camber and went back to a hybrid camber that has a little camber between the feet, flat after and then transitions to rocker.  It makes the ride a lot easier than it was last year and while it doesn’t have the pop it also doesn’t have the consequence or the cartwheeling nature camber has in powder.

Size: 155
Days:  3
Conditions:  Soft snow to pretty firm snow with some good patches.
Riders: James (Size 9, 5’10” 185-195lbs)
Boots: Adidas Tactical ADV
Insoles: Sandsole Custom Insoles
Bindings: Union AtlasUnion StrataUnion Superpro,

: 22” 15 front -15 back centered.

The Alloy B-Bomb went full camber for 2018 and makes it a much more technical and aggressive mountain twin. It’s not going to ride well in powder but it sure will carve and bomb better.

The Alloy B-Bomb is a fun playfull all mountain twin and our only complaint would be to see a little more pop and carving ability.

Size: 155
Days: 4
Conditions: Really good snow 2 days, really hard snow another and almost 1′ of powder.
Riders: James, Jimbo and Matt,
Boots: Adidas Tactical ADV, Burton Rover
Bindings: Burton Genesis
Set Up: Centered, 15 front -15back about 22.75″ wide

Size: 155
Days: 2
Conditions: Good snow with some left over powder and good groomers.
Riders: James, Jimbo,
Boots: Burton SLX,
Bindings: Burton Cartel, Burton Genesis
Set Up: Centered 23″ wide 15 front -15 back

Approximate Weight: Feels normal bordering on light.

On Snow Feel: Stable and easy to ride but missing that feel that you get with more camber. It’s got Nidecker’s old CamRock hybrid camber technology with only a little bit of camber between the feet so it’s a mostly rocker board. It’s an easy cruiser.

Powder: Pretty good for a twin and floated well in the leftover powder.

Turn Initiation: Very easy and quick edge to edge for us.

Skidded Turns: Super easy so good for riders of all levels.

Carving: You can make some mellow carves and that mellow camber helps you do more than you would think but it’s washy and not the best for those that really like to lay into turns on the hill.

Speed: Decent mountain speed for a 155.

Uneven Terrain: Very easy to weave in and out of bumpy turns.

Edge Hold: Pretty strong edge hold that does well in hard snow we found in some steeper bare spots.

Flex: Easy Medium flex that allows you to butter without buttering onto your ass like some camrock boards can do.

Switch: Only thing we have found that’s better is an asymmetrical twin

Jibbing: We don’t have many jibs up but the few that we tried the B-Bomb held well.

Pipe: No pipe yet but seems like it would be ok with the edge hold and stable ride. Not something to blow your mind but ok.
