INFO TECH VIDEO SPECS
Pros know snowboarders are asymmetrical from front to back, and turn mechanics are vastly different from toe side to heel side. Crepel, Warbington, Blake Paul and the Weird Science Team at Gnu have incorporated 4 unique balancing design concepts that harmonize and harness our natural bio-mechanics, and built them into the award winning riders choice.

Asymmetric Symmetric Synchronization, uses asymmetry in the boards sidecut, wood core components, contact angles and tip and tail design to make riding a whole lot easier.

Asym Core: 3
Pickle Barrel Blend. Great Lakes Aspen, Rocky Mountain Aspen and Columbian Gold adds Polonia (extremely renewable, ultra-lightweight wood) to the heel side edge for a softer heel side flex.
UHMW Sidewalls
Ultra High Molecular Weight exterior sidewalls made from soy-based elastomer are laminated to five internal wood layers for totally bombproof sidewalls.

Sintered Base
Compression hardened amorphous UHMW skived from the billet to create the toughest, fastest, best wax holding base material around. Slides best and fastest when waxed regularly to match local snow conditions.

ABOUT THE ART
A three way collaborative design by three dirty motorcycle enthusiasts: Pinski, Dirty Adam and Zack Teachout from Hovercraft Design. They all live in Portland, Oregon and are surrounded by telephone poles covered in punk shows, lost kittens and garage sale signs. BOARD TECH
TWIN ASYM. GEOMETRIES
A whole new breed of Twin Tip Geometry that combines a symmetrical nose and tail shape with asymmetrical sidecuts. Although invisible to the naked eye, the heel-side sidecut has a slightly tighter radius than toe-side. This is to help offset the difference in human heel and toe agility (ever notice that toe-side turns are easier than heel-side turns?). The Park Pickle also has a slightly softer/damper wood on the heel-side of the board to help achieve perfect turning balance.

C2 PBTX
Agro Performance Banana/Camber
Rocker between your feet combined with radial cambers out to the contact. Aggressive riders: unreal tip and tail control, power and pop combined with the float, freestyle freedom and carving of rocker between the feet.

MAGNE-TRACTION
“Turns ice into powder”
Serrated edges give great edge hold all over the mountain especially on hard pack and ice!

CORE: ASYM AP1 – ASPEN/POLONIA
SINTERED BASE
Compression hardened amorphous UHMW skived from the billet to create the toughest, fastest, best wax holding base material around. Slides best and fastest when waxed regularly to match local snow conditions.

CO-EXTRUDED TOPSHEET
UHMW SIDEWALLS
Ultra High Molecular Weight exterior sidewalls made from soy-based elastomer are laminated to five internal wood layers for totally bombproof sidewalls.

HANDBUILT IN THE USA
Every Gnu snowboard is handbuilt in the U.S.A by weirdos with jobs. Gnus are built with tough and fast UHMW external sidewalls and impact resistant end grain internal sidewalls. Ultra-light weight rugged “polymer bumper” sandwich tip and tails are standard on all Gnus. Steel edges “tucked in” just past the contacts for minimum spin weight… heavy unnecessary steel edge is eliminated from the tips and tails. Bi Ax, Tri Ax and exotic reinforcement fiber blends are used individually in combination to tune each board for its intended rider and terrain. Keep riding snowboards built by snowboarders.

Gnu Riders Choice 2013

RIDER DESIGNED C2 BTX ALL TERRAIN FREESTYLE!

Designed and ridden by Zach Leach, Blake Paul, Mathieu Crepel, Max Warbington and crew with a focus on park this all terrain freestyle pickle is well polished and road tested in every condition imaginable all over the mountain. Award winning asymmetric- sidecuts and construction balance the different turning mechanics required for heel-side and toe side turns. C2 Banana Camber combo geometries provide confidence building end to end stability on big park and backcountry booters, float in pow, control in critical situations, slide through rails and pop out of everything. You can ride a banana about 3cm shorter than a traditional board even in pow because they float so well and hold incredibly on hardpack and ice. Your jib board is your pow board, your pow board is your park board. Balance through asymmetry!

BOARD TECH

HANDBUILT IN THE USA

Every Gnu is handmade by snowboarders with jobs in the USA.

BALANCE THRU ASYMMETRY

Asymmetric sidecuts and construction to balance the different turning mechanics required for heel side turns and toe side turns. Your body is asymmetric, your snowboard should be asymmetric.

SINTERED BASE

Compression hardened amorphous UHMW skived from the billet to create the toughest, fastest, best wax holding base material around. Slides best and fastest when waxed regularly to match local snow conditions.

MAGNE-TRACTION

“Turns ice into powder”
Serrated edges give great edge hold all over the mountain especially on hard pack and blue ice!

MERVIN AG1 SUSTAINABLE WOODCORE

MERVIN AG1 SUSTAINABLE WOODCORE: ASPEN / ALT. GENETICS / EISS 9
– Lighter / Stronger. A perfect combination of Aspen, ultra lightweight genetically altered wood core and EISS 9.

Wood Core Weirdness!
In 2009 the world’s fastest growing trees in the Gnu Eco Timber farm benefited from a combination of moist evenings, diffused daylight sunshine and being on the north American avian flyway…abundant natural nitrogen from goose and duckdroppings resulted in a exceptional harvest of long fibered lightweight poppy woods that we call “nature’s fiberglass”. This very exceptional crop has been carefully seasoned and built into cores and is the light poppy center of our 2012 Gnu Snowboards.

QUASI GLASS

4 way fiber orientation 0/45/45/90. Triaxial and biaxial glass combo for max pop and control.

TWIN ASYM.

Gnu Riders Choice C2 BTX 2012

New Riders Choice Pickle Tech. Asymmetric sidecuts and construction to balance the different turning mechanics required for heelside and toe side turns. Your body is asymmetric your snowboard should be asymmetric. Rip harder and have more fun balanced through Asymmetry! The award winning Banana Technology Magne-Traction Riders Choice is ridden and designed by freestyle riders Zach Leach and Nate Farrell and crew. These guys test this board in all conditions all over the world every year and have chosen C2 BTX camber banana combo as their favorite geometry. The camber gives the board pop, end-to-end stability for big landings, critical lines and aggressive riders. The Banana between the
feet makes for great carving on hardpack and ice and easy float in powder and broken, variable snow conditions. Focused on Park Freestyle, this medium firm flexing C2 BTX also rips the entire mountain. You can ride Banana Tech about 3cm shorter than your regular board even in pow because they float so well. Your jib board is your pow board, your pow board is your park board.
