K2 Panoramic 2014 - 2012 Review by The Good Ride

The K2 Panoramic has similar sizing and setback to the k2 gyrator but the shape is very different. The Gyrator has a very serious amount of rocker where this rocker profile is closer to the K2 Turbo Dream. This is our favorite type of rocker that K2 has. The Big Trend for 2012 is backcountry and so almost every company has made a split board.  No one has ever excessively bitched at K2 for their quality so as usual they did a good job on the construction of their first split board.

This has a big set back so you can float better in powder than the Turbo Dream and Raygun but it’s not quite as good as the Gyrator or Ultra Dream’s aggressive rocker profile. Split boards are not easy to make well so it will be a tough sell to pick the Panoramic over Venture, Vollie and many other companies that have been doing this for a long time. K2 does make a sturdy well built board and with the kit it’s on the more reasonably priced side of the split board world. If you get the K2 Panoramic board make sure you have at least your Avalanche 1 certification.  People who don’t know what they are doing can and often die so don’t become a back country statistic!
