Summary

The Alloy Pandora is a very stiff, mean, full camber, aggressive mountain freestyle directional twin for those that are super technical and super strong.  If you get off your game it will punish you but when you are on your game it will reward you with massive full camber pop out of a turn and spring you into the air on an ollie.  Great board for technical pipe riders too.  It's an amazing board for expert riders but it's not really recommendable for anyone else.

Alloy Pandora Snowboard Written And On The Table Review Review by The Good Ride

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  No one is perfect and we do make money from the “Where To Buy” links below, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

How This Review Happened:
We borrowed this for an extended demo and then returned it.

Size: 145

Days:  4

Conditions: Powder, Packed Powder, Fresh Groomers, Hard Pack

Riders: Steph

Boots: Vans Ferra

Bindings: Union Milan

Set Up: 15 front -15 back 20″ wide

Approximate Weight: Feels average to light

Flex/Buttering: Has a very aggressive and reactive flex to it. It is snappy and difficult to butter.

Sizing: Only comes in a 145

On Snow Feel: Feels very locked in and stable on snow. It is a true camber board so you get contact points well outside of the bindings. And it feels super solid when the edges are engaged.

Edge Hold: I found the Alloy Pandora to have great edge hold on hard pack and ice. This board is about as locked in as you can get when it comes to camber boards.

Turn Initiation: The Pandora is fun to turn but it is for an advanced to expert rider so you have to work it a little to get it to turn. It preforms better at higher speeds and is easier to initiate when going fast then slow.

Turning Experience: A lot of fun to turn, this board is lively and snappy. It has a lot of excitement when it is turning down the hill. It likes locked in turns and medium to large radius turns.

Carving: So fun and stable to carve. The Alloy Pandora does great at laying in and edge and holding it. The camber contact points are well outside of the bindings. Setting an early edge on this board is easy and you can drive it almost all the way from the tip to tail while still being locked into the turn.

Skidded Turns: It isn’t made for skidding it wants to go fast and be on an edge. When you try to skid it too much it doesn’t feel smooth in the turn transition.

Powder: Not ideal for powder, it is a directional twin, but with the amount of camber on this board it isn’t going to want to float at all.

Speed: Fast feels great on the Alloy Pandora. It is super stable at high speeds and easy to get up to speed.

Uneven Terrain: It’s a little difficult to turn through uneven snow. It does have a nice stiff flex so you can power through a lot of chunder, but if it is harder snow it won’t be super fun.

Switch: Rides switch very well. It is a directional twin so it almost feels the same switch as it does normal, you just have a slightly bigger nose than tail but you don’t notice it much.

Jumps: Feels very solid on jumps, and spinning is solid too because you can lock in the edge so well, but it isn’t forgiving at all so you gotta be on your game when jumping. The Pandora also has an amazing amount of pop. When you load the board it springs back with a very snappy feel and will send you flying pretty high.

Jibbing: The Alloy Pandora is pretty stiff and doesn’t like to jib. It has an aggressive personality so not playful for experimenting on jibs.

Pipe: Feels great in the pipe, very solid up the walls and feels like you can just rocket right into the air when riding pip with the Pandora.

How This Review Happened:
We borrowed this for an extended demo and then returned it. We had a couple of laps at a frantic manic demo day. We liked it so much we asked to keep it (we only do this with our favorites). After a demo we liked it so much we bought it. We spent our precious Good Ride dollars to buy this for you good readers.
