686 Times Dickies Double Knee 2013 Review by The Good Ride

The 686 Times Dickies Doublen Knee pant is for those that don’t need the xtra layer that smarty pants provide but like strategic mapping around your knees and a little insulation.

Size Tried: Medium
James’ Specs:
Height: 5’10”,
Weight: 195 lbs,
Waist 33”
Hips 42”
Inseam 30”
Upper Thigh 24.5”
Middle Thigh 22”
Calves 17”
Turn On’s: Size M pants that fit well around my thighs, Riding with Friends, Open Roads, new gear and especially my wife.
Turn Off’s: M Pants that I can’t get up over my thighs, traffic and people who can’t park inside the lines.

Fit: I like the “All Access Fit” with 686 and it accommodates my short rather thick legs.

Construction: 686 makes pretty solid clothes for the price point.

Insulation/Warmth: 40g is pretty warm and it’s not an everyday kind of pant for me.  This would be my cold, somewhat dry n windy pant.  If you run cold or ride in cold dry areas though this is a great pant.

Waterproofing: It’s not that bad but it’s more on the average side of things.  It can handle some wet snow but it’s mostly for dryer snow.

Breathability: Didn’t feel like there was much breathing going on.  That being said these pants were very hot for me so I felt they couldn’t regulate. There was a little sauna crotch going on here.

Overall: This is for those that run a little more on the cold side and like a little fill in their pants at all times or those that primarily see cold weather.
