The Volcom Sinc TDS Jacket is a pretty steep price for a 15k/15k jacket but you do get some advanced insulation material as well as 4-way stretch fabric. Volcom always runs on the expensive side but most people I know that own Volcom Jackets swear by them.

Turn On’s: Size L Jackets that fit well around my chest, Riding with Friends, Open Roads, new gear and my wife.
Turn Off’s: Size Jackets that don’t fit well around my chest, traffic and people who can’t park inside the lines.

Fit: Felt like a lot of Volcom jackets that I’ve tried that have a good fit which allows you room to layer but don’t feel super baggy either.  My rather thick upper body didn’t feel constricted in any way.

Comfort: All Volcom Jackets really provide a good fit and feel to them and the liner works well with under layers.

Construction: I got to say that up close the jacket looks really good and very well made.  The 4-way stretch fabric is getting pretty popular these days but it does come at a higher price. To each his own though.

Hood:  The clip in the face mask isn’t a bad idea and that combined with a contoured hood makes for really solid face protection.

Insulation/Warmth: It’s a little more than a shell here with the strategically mapped insulation.  It’s nothing over the top but it also does take it past a shell.  It’s still thin and relatively packable.  For me, I’d be fine with this most of the winter but in spring conditions I wouldn’t want to wear this.  I do tend to run more on the warm side than the cold side.  Maybe all those years surfing in cold water helped.

Waterproofing: So the 15k waterproofing will hold really well for those that ride every day in dryer conditions to even conditions that can get wet. It’s not Gore-Tex or 3 Layers but that’s still above average waterproofing.

Breathability:  Breathability is about the same mid to slightly above average like the waterproofing.  A lot of jackets that offer 15k waterproofing usually offer 10k breathability.

Overall: All in all you have a warmer than a shell jacket that for those who find that you are always layering up a lot so it will help you save a layer. Also, you have their patented zippered jacket to pant interface that is really best in class.
