Xion Protective Gear Womens Vest 2015 Review by The Good Ride

The Xion Protective Gear Womens Freeride Vest is a comfortable vest with a D3O back protector and additional protection at the lower back area. It’s super low profile but at the same time doesn’t compromise when it comes to protecting you.

Size Tried: Medium

Phyllis’ Specs:
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 160 lbs.
Chest: 37 ½”
Back Length: 19”

Fit: Good fit although it is a tiny bit roomy at the arm openings of the vest and it seems to conform to my not quite normal build.

Construction: Firm construction and has strong stitching so this will last a really long time. This vest does not look like it will fall apart and the material is very sturdy.

Breathability: The material is all about being sturdy but at the same time it breathes well.

Protection: The vest has double back protection, one pad for lower back protection and a normal back protector. For me back, protection is the most important part of upper body protection because I do not want to end up with spinal cord injuries. However, I think the vest is not really suitable for riding park of freeriding. When you are going to do that I recommend getting a Xion Protective Gear Freeride Jacket.

Overall: If you are only looking for great back protection this is the best vest I have found out there for snowboarding.  Officially I should’ve gone with the Large according to the sizing chart of Xion. However, the back panel would’ve been way too long for me and it would have been annoying while wearing the Xion Protective Gear Womens Bermuda Freeride Pants. You do have the option to remove the lower back panel but if you do, you’ll miss about 4 inches of lower back protection.
