Burton Ritual 2016 - 2014 Review by The Good Ride

The Burton Ritual is new for 2014 and a nice addition to their line. In many ways, it’s a softer playful version of the Burton Supreme that could make a lot of riders happy.

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  No one is perfect and we do make money from the “Where To Buy” links below, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

For 2016 the Burton Ritual hasn’t changed much over 2015.

Flex:  Articulating cuffs have a nice autonomous upper and lower flex that makes for a good ride. We like that the Burton Ritual uses this tech at this price point.

Comfort: Very soft and comfortable. There is almost no break in period.

Heel Hold:  Burton has good heel hold and we found the combo of speed lace with articulating cuffs is a good one.  Still, BOA has an advantage over this but all but the most finicky heel hold riders won’t have issues.

Adjustability:  Yes double BOA is better when it comes to heel hold but Burton’s Speed Lace is the best when it comes to upper and lower separation when it comes to adjusting. This is a great boot for riders that like it looser on the bottom and tighter on the top.

Flex Retention:  The flex retention here is very good and this boot will last a long time without this boot turning into a sock towards the end of its life.

Response: a Nice smooth response that can handle a wide variety of boards.

Traction:  Pretty middle ground traction.  Fine in softer snow and good for hiking and pretty good in an icy parking lot.

Shock Absorption:  Very good shock absorption that can make your day last longer.  Easy on the knees and feet.

On & Off Ease: Very easy on and off.  This is faster than BOA when it comes to getting it on and only a little slower taking them off. Also adjusting it is about the same or a little faster because speed lace doesn’t make you almost start over when you want to loosen the lacing.
