686 New Balance 580 BOA 2012 - 2013 Review by The Good Ride

The 686 New Balance 580 BOA boot is a nice improvement over the 2012 model.  The biggest upgrade for 2013 is the reduced footprint which gets a big thumbs up from the Good Ride.  It would of been better to see a Double BOA system that doesn’t share almost the same spot in the ankle.  This makes it only a little better than a single BOA. Still many have this set up and if you want your ankle cranked down into place then this will be good. It’s very responsive and the borderline stiff flex is good with an aggressive board.

Just came in from an awesome season opener. These boots fit me perfect. Very little discomfort. The stiffness is ideal. I can really throw down the power in these with minimal fatigue. The response is amazing.

Only downside is that, thermally, they're inferior to boots I've had in the past. I can let this slide because they perform like a dream.
