Sole Softec Response 2013 - 2011 Review by The Good Ride

The Sole Softec Response Insole is primarily made for runners but does a pretty decent job as a snowboard boot insole.  Out of all the Sole Footbeds, we would only recommend the Regular Softec and the  Dean Karnazes models.  The rest are mostly not right for Snowboard boots because they are either too thick or don’t have enough cushioning. These inserts are a great choice for the price because of these reasons.

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  No one is perfect and we do make money from the “Where To Buy” links below, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

1. No other snowboard boot insert other than Montrail comes in individual sizes IE 7, 8, 9, 10, etc. Most are 7-9, 9 1/2- 11 etc.
2. You can heat mold Sole, ShredSole and Montrail to fit your foot. Superfeet and the competitors don’t really have this option unless you go in for a custom fit at a very high price.
Other good reasons. They are almost the same size as the inserts that came with your boot, have a deep heel cup, a moisture-wicking top layer, arch support, high-density EVA frame…blah blah blah.  We wore these for a season.  Our conclusion was that the support and reliability were exceptional.  We found them to be a better choice than the superfeet we had in there before.  The bottom line is they are a little more than superfeet but are very much worth it to have a custom fit. Nothing still comes close to custom orthotics but for the price, these aren’t a bad choice.  Don’t screw around with your feet if you want to ride into your elder years.
