Flow NX2-SE 2014 - 2013 Review by The Good Ride

The Flow NX2-SE is a nice change to Flow’s binding line up and we hope to see this high-end tech trickle down to the entire line.

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  No one is perfect and we do make money from the “Where To Buy” links below, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

Still, we aren’t huge fans of the quick release but can easily tolerate it because Flow focused on the response, allowing the board to flex better underfoot, shock absorption and dampening.

I’d personally like to see this base plate combined with a normal high back and straps which goes against Flow’s binding style but it would be better.

It’s not going to give you the reduced dead spot that Burton’s Re:Flex will but it’s a big improvement over the old massive foot plate deadening the entire part of the bindings underfoot.

You can also get in and out of these bindings as normal snowboarders do and that is how I’d do it if I owned these bindings.

They also added a cant in the footbed that for some can make riding easy on the knees, ankles and possibly the hip.

The reduction of the over the top of the foot strap and the addition of the over the toe strap makes for less pressure on the top of your foot and some argue it has better support/response.

This is one of the better Flow bindings in our opinion if you must have a quick release but all of us at The Good Ride prefer traditional strap bindings over these despite their upgrades. The biggest problem still is with the quick release system because in order to get in and out of these you have to leave a little space between the straps and boots. We haven’t been able to get the same support and response out of the binding that we can with 2 strap systems/traditional straps. We always feel a little loose and un-supported in there and that’s the deal breaker.

It would be nice to see quick release work without sacrificing performance.  If that happened we would definitely back it if the binding was good.
